Wow. What A Month!!

How come all this good stuff has to come in one month? Well, a little over a month with the Gainesville Hamfest and the GCARC 20th anniversary event. Then Special Event stations it seems every weekend, ARES nets, club nets, Statewide SET…it just keeps coming, and we still have Radio Day in Paris and the Hamfest in Ardmore. My guess is everyone is trying to get “it” all in before winter comes and the weather so far has been pretty accommodating. That is, except for the two SKYWARN activations in the dark of night. Oh yes, and don’t forget a couple of repeater revisions to our community.

Important Changes to Local Repeaters

PLEASE NOTE: Effective at 6am on October 6th, the W5COP repeater (147.280 MHz) will become the primary repeater used for Grayson County ARES and SKYWARN communications.

The W5RVT repeater (147.000 MHz) will be operating in a reduced capacity for the next several months due to maintenance/construction work at its primary location. Please ensure you have the W5COP repeater properly programmed into your radio(s) using the following settings:

Repeater Frequency: 147.280 MHz
Offset: Positive (+600 KHz)
PL Tone: 107.2 

 

Did You Ever See The Wheel Come Off?

There you are running along just fine and all of a sudden there is shaking, lots of noise, and you feel your pulse quicken. It’s one of those “Awww Heck” moments when you realize it’s happened – a wheel has come off. Then you wake up. It was just the alarm going off, that tender shake to your shoulder, and a not so gentle “it’s time to get up”.
