ARES® Training

Online Training Classes

FEMA Emergency Management Institute (EMI) Online Courses:
All ARES® members should take the following online FEMA courses: ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, and ICS-800. These courses are offered free of charge; links to them are listed on the Links page.

Note: At the end of each course you will receive a completion certificate. Forward a copy of each certificate to Wade Graves (KF5AUD) at wade.graves@gmail.com so he can update your training records. If you have already taken any of these courses as a part of training in another organization you DO NOT have to take them again – simply forward copies of your certificates to Wade to receive credit.

In-Person Training & Training Nets

The Grayson County ARES® group operates a radio net for training that meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 8:00pm on the local 147.000MHz repeater. The group also holds bi-monthly in-person training sessions on the fourth Tuesday of each odd-numbered month (January, March, May, July, September, and November) from 7:00-9:00pm at the Sherman Municipal Airport terminal building. All interested parties are welcome — you DO NOT have to be a member of ARES® or a resident of Grayson County to participate in either of these activities.
